Efficient Listening

In class a point missed or not properly
understood may prevent the student from understanding the rest of the lesson. Indeed if a
student has failed to understand parts early in the lesson his attention may wander off
the subject completely with the result that the whole lecture is wasted.

LISTENING FOR KEY INFORMATION

If one listens for key information in difficult sections of a lecture, understanding can be considerably improved. Also concentration is improved as the mind is riveted to the essential points of the lecture.

TAKING NOTES FROM LECTURES

Taking lecture notes is an essential habit that should be acquired early in one’s educational career. At university students spend more time writing down verbatim what the lecturer is saying than thinking about the points he is making.
